Aleijadinho’s portal outside the window
Beyond the delights on the menu, the finest seasoning is all around you. Over lunch, dinner or a simple coffee, you can gaze at Aleijadinho’s masterpiece: the carved portal of the Church of São Francisco de Assis.

Who was Bené da Flauta
A lively presence at the first Winter Festivals in Ouro Preto, he drew attention for being both the artist and the work of art. He delighted tourists and anyone else who could hear the sound of his flutes and feel the purity and genius of a man who turned a piece of cane or bamboo into his own musical instruments.
And it was precisely on a 25th of July, amid all the excitement of a festival, that his life came to an end. But not even time will carry the memories of this legendary figure away from the steep streets of Ouro Preto.
